Don’t Miss the Let’s Be Blunt Film Project Pancake Day Special! Free workshops & pancakes

‘Lets Be Blunt’ is  an innovative digital filmmaking project, that explores knife-crime.  Young Filmmakers will learn hands on film making skills and gain new digital arts skills using state of the art production equipment at Gorse Hill Studios.

You will write scripts, direct and edit short films and produce online content. You will also compose and produce an original soundtrack to the film in the Gorse Hill Studios recording studio.

As part of our next phase of the project, we’re hosting a Knife Crime information and awareness day.

Come down and take part in one of our workshops and find out the facts and myths about knife crime.  It’s also Pancake day, so we’ll be providing some delicious pancakes as well!

Workshops will include, Filmmaking, Drama, Dance & Visual Arts. The workshops are all FREE and will take place between 3.30 PM- 6.30 PM.  If you are interested in becoming a budding film director and would like to take part in the ‘Let’s Be Blunt Film Project, give us a call on 0161 912 5251.

The BLUNT Project will recruit young people and develop 3 groups based in various parts of Trafford, who will meet to create 10 short films using professional equipment . The participants will be responsible from writing the scripts, filming, directing and editing the films.  The films will vary in style and content.  The young film makers will get the chance t let their imagination run wild.

The films will then be promoted around Trafford and beyond.  The project will have an interactive edge and people who have seen the films will get the chance to create their own responses by making their own films and sharing them as well.

The films and responses will be toured around schools and youth centres.

Trafford’s most exciting youth music festival Pandemonium returns once again with a music showcase that is guaranteed to inspire and invigorate  y’all. Taking place in a brand spanking new youth arts centre in Partington – The Fuse, this showcase will feature a vast array of original music from Trafford’s up and coming musicians. Special guests on the night include KT Forrester and Virus Syndicate.  Tickets are free but limited so make sure you get your name down for this one.  For more info contact us at Gorse Hill Studios.

During this time she has taken part in a variety of activities such as fashion design, photography, sewing and creative writing as well as cookery and rockclimbing.  She is working towards a Silver Art Award. (Check out her review HERE )

Stephanie hosted her own exhibition at Gorse Hill Studios on Wednesday 19th of October from 4PM-5PM which was attended and admired by many people

The exhibition featured all the dresses designed by Stephanie as well as photographs and illustrations of her work throughout the last 2 years.

Despite the unrest, the youth festival went ahead in full force, offering positive activities for young people and showcasing the very best of local talent. Around 800 young people attended the event enjoying the atmosphere and the original music performed by Trafford’s young musicians.

On a day overshadowed by the negative actions of a small number of young people it was great to see so many young people enjoying themselves in a safe atmosphere, making a positive contribution to our society.

Anthony organised a ‘USA tour’ around Trafford and this may make you wonder how that could be possible?

‘Well it’s simple: do a few gigs in Urmston, a few in Sale and Stretford and a couple more in Altrincham and you have just toured the USA’ says Anthony.

In addition to organising the ‘tongue in cheek’ tour, the band also recorded a brand new EP at Gorse Hill Studios, and came up with some innovative concept artwork to compliment their newly recorded music. The band are planning to release the EP themselves.

Trafford CYPS is offering schools in Trafford an Alternative Curriculum programme to assist these young people in meeting their full potential and gaining alternative qualifications.

They work with Specialist Youth Arts Workers whose background and method of working allows for a more informal relationship, allowing the young person to talk with more ease and for the Youth Arts Worker to give advice and support

The Alternative Curriculum at Gorse Hill Studios offers the young person a creative space to work in, access to specialist arts equipment and tuition with specialist youth arts workers. Young people have the opportunity to learn and develop their interests in any artform, take on their own project and gain an Arts Award.

In addition to the arts award delivered by Gorse Hill Studios, the Alternative Creative Curriculum also provides outdoor activities, sports, health, support and advice from the Talkshop.
